Join Urban Growers Collective and May Tsuporos, Founder of SunTree Collaboration and Co-founder of Gardeneers, to learn how to make salves. Salves are preparations of herbs that have been infused in oils for topical preparations. We will learn how to use infused oils to create healing balms and salves in your own kitchen.
Tools/Materials Needed: Participants will be emailed a list of supplies to purchase in advance of the workshops, as well as instructional videos for harvesting and drying herbs.
This is a virtual event, and registrants will be emailed a Zoom link on the day of the event. Please be sure you have Zoom installed on your device and a good internet connection.
Urban Growers Collective understands that not everyone can afford to attend these workshops. For information about scholarships, please email info@urbangrowerscollective.org.
Meet May Tsupros!
May Tsupros (she/they) is an educator, community builder, sustainable food systems designer (permaculture!) and herbalist. She is a Teach For America alumna and an accomplished high school chemistry teacher for seven years before cofounding Gardeneers in 2014 to ensure Chicago youth in vulnerable communities have the opportunity to grow and connect with nutritious food, the earth, and each other. More recently she founded SunTree Collaboration, using herbalism, permaculture, and organic gardening education to steward the human-nature connection and create lifelong caretakers of our planet. You can currently find her in the communities, forests, and organic farm fields of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Chicago, doing everything she can to make this planet a better place for us all.
